This is Simon's first time seeing and using the product (so definitely NOT a review), having been asked to take a look at it by a RUclips viewer. The DD Superlight A-Frame Mesh Tent is, fundamentally, a waterproof groundsheet with an integrated bug net. It uses two extendable hiking poles to erect, rather than the additional bulk of carrying separate tent poles. For bug magnets (like Simon) it is an ideal solu...

the pot stand is such a nuissance! BAD design! I bought this set as a second stove in case there are more guests (my basic set is the Trangia 27) BUT I am not that happy with the product, because of the faulty design, the leakage and the weight... SO thus I ended using a second Trangia burner with the Trangia Triangle + windscreen instead and the Tatonka burner will be used in my small stainless steel grill (no pot stand needed)

Hey PTL, do you still have this kit? I purchased one from Amazon because of the review. Very simple. However i forgot the heat tints show up after use. I will have to regularly clean them but don't know how and with what. I don't have money for expensive electrochemical machines or deadly pickleing pastes, any ideas?

I bought the knockoff from China for $6 and I'm shocked at the quality of it. The only difference I can see from the Maxpedition is the fake has two 1inch molle straps built onto it to fasilitate weaving it onto palls. Yeah, imsure the material is better on the real thing but for $50 I can buy 8 knockoffs and my grandkids wont have to fight over them as long as they don't get left in the fire. On top of the quality of it it's available in many colors Maxpedition doesn't offer. Actually, just about any camo pattern imaginable. Well worth $6.

Oops, a bit late to this video. Very informative especially about the viruses; now I feel better about Sawyer not filtering viruses. Have heard in numerous videos mentioning for North America waters viruses are not an issue. Some said viruses are an issue in Europe and other locations. Katadyn makes an inline carbon filter attachment, I think $22 US. With the hose it will connect downstream of the Sawyer. Watched a video where a gentleman created his own activated carbon filter with a one inch, 28mm, PVC pipe. He stuffed the end with two cotton balls, filled the tube with activated carbon purchased from a pet store. After tube is filled with activated carbon he placed two cotton balls. Then on both ends glued caps for inlet and outlet hose. This was placed downstream of the Sawyer.

Its not a camp bed . a camp bed could be anything like a blow up mattress , a self inflated mattress, a foam pad or a cot . On youtube people type in cots if they are wanting to look into cots if they want to see blow up mattresses the type that in . What your video is about is a cot . You really need to change the title to Affordable ultralight cot . Add the word cot to the title somewhere so when people type in cot they will see your video .

I realise that tarps are very versetile and I have several and love them....but, for this design of pitch, that seems to take more effort and time than the equivalent set up for a standard A frame tent! Plus, the tent will have closed off ends and a floor....which for many ultra light tents, don't weigh a great deal more. I still love tarps, but there are better ways of using one for a tent shelter. The open front pyramid style is fab and better for rain and cold and with two poles spread as an A frame shape, allows clear and free space for two people. Very clear video though and really well put together. 👍🏻

This is the most helpful bug net/tarp setup I’ve ever seen. I like the way you describe everything and provide just enough rationale to really educate beginners as well as be helpful to more advanced hikers. This is an amazing video!! The one outstanding question I have is, what if the bug net mesh tent is the kind that has one straight up wall and sloped side wall (see the six moon designs “Serenity Net Tent” - I think it’s called a HALF pyramid) and a rectangle tarp? I am really having a tough time with it. I have a 6’ x 8’ silnylon tarp and a 8’ x 10’ silnylon tarp. Spent all day yesterday working on it and still haven’t found a one-pole or even two-pole solution.

I've been thinking about this for years, but have yet to have a try... I reckon if you use a sheet that hangs over the side, like an old bed valance sheet, it should give some more insulation as it keeps your air under the bed and reduces the movement.

Packed To Live, I just got the product but not the pots, i had to pay about 115 dollars for the stove and legs from amazon germany and individually the damper from amazon uk. The one thing that I personally need it as well is the outer ring. I scoured all sorts of shops including amazon and i can't find. Tatonka won't sell it seperatly. The reason why I am so desperate for it is because the legs are not long enough to cover small pots which is the only ones i have. Do you have any suggestions where I could outsource it? P.S i can report in 2023 the leaking issue still present.
